POWDER COATING

Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. The coating is applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin". It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.

WHAT WE DO

Material is cleaned and prepared. The powder is applied electrostatically then cured with heat to allow it to flow and form a “skin”. The result is a strong, durable, long lasting and attractive finish. Our largest oven is 8x8x12 feet. If it fits, we can do it. We keep a large variety of colors and different textures in stock. We can get any color, gloss level or texture you need. Need to powder coat one thousand pieces or just one? We have the staff, equipment and facilities to help.

ENVIRONMENTAL

In addition to being the more durable and attractive choice when compared to conventional liquid paint, powder coating is also highly protective of our environment. In the world we live in, any painting process that is “green” is good.

Green Fact: If all solvent-borne coatings on metal applications would be replaced by powder coatings, then the Green House Gas (GHG) emissions avoided would be equivalent to the annual emissions of approximately 9.5 millions cars.

Solvent Free

While liquid finishes contain solvents, which have pollutants known as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), powder coatings contain no solvents and release negligible amounts of, if any, VOCs into the atmosphere.

Reusable Overspray

A major advantage of powder coatings is the ability to reuse powder that does not adhere to an object (overspray). The recycled powder is recollected within the powder hopper for future use.

Less Exhaust

Powder coating is a clean process, allowing exhaust air from the coating booth to be returned to the facility, and less oven air is exhausted to the outside. Heating and cooling costs are eliminated for make-up air and the cost for maintaining oven temperatures is minimized.

Less Equipment

Since powder coating is solvent free and environmentally friendly, there isn't a need to purchase pollution control equipment. This results in greater cost savings to our customers and the benefit of a reduced environmental footprint for everyone.
